Amanda Martinsen
Founder & President
IN THE NEWS
Amanda Martinsen is a former elementary and middle school math teacher. She taught for 3 years in a Chicago Charter School, 5 years in Glenview District 34 and 2 years at Sunset Ridge Middle School. Additionally, Amanda created The Nora Project, a year long literacy project that teaches empathy to students by fostering friendships between students and their peers with disabilities. Amanda won several awards for her work on the Nora Project, and it went on to become a national nonprofit organization. Amanda left the classroom when her twin boys, Max and Lincoln, were born four months early. Max passed away in the hospital, while Lincoln thankfully made it home safe and sound after a very hard and long fight. Inspired by Lincoln's strength, Amanda launched MAXimize Tutor (named for her late son, Max), with a mission to make the world a better place, one child at a time by empowering students to be their best. MAXimize Tutor has grown into an organization across the Northshore supporting 150 students with individualized plans to allow each student to reach their full potential. Amanda has seen the impact her program and staff has had on students success, and she launched The MAX Potential Foundation in an effort to remove finical barriers for student and student athletes to allow them to reach their full potential in school, sports, and life. Amanda resides in Northbrook with her two sons, MJ (age 11) and Lincoln (age 6).
